Chief Executive Officer, Michael Allen, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Therapeutic Connections, LLC. Therapeutic Connections, is a licensed Outpatient Mental Health Clinic based in Howard County Maryland. We provide psychiatric assessments, medication management, individual, family therapy and psychiatric rehabilitation to children, teens and adults throughout the state of Maryland. Therapeutic Connections utilizes a holistic, strength- based and person-centered treatment model that focuses on the whole person. Our purpose is to enhance the lives of the populations served by assisting them reach their fullest potential.
Therapeutic Connections is a recipient of the Building Resiliency grant from The Local Children’s Board. Therapeutic Connections is a certified Minority Business Enterprise (Certification No. 23-019)
Mr. Allen attended the State University of New York (SUNY) New Paltz in upstate New York where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1998. Mr. Allen moved to Baltimore in 1998 once graduating to start his career in the social work field. He initially worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the Community Psychiatry Department as a Case Manager servicing homeless adults with behavioral health diagnosis. While at Johns Hopkins he applied for and was accepted into the University of Maryland School of Social Work (MACRO) where he completed his field placement at the University of Maryland Hospital, Shock Trauma Center. Mr. Allen became the Lead Social Worker at Shock Trauma Center in the Violence Intervention Program working with victims of interpersonal violence.
Seeking a different social work experience, Mr. Allen ventured into an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) where he worked as an Account Manager providing training, support and consultation services to small businesses, local, state and federal agencies. Mr. Allen was recruited to then work at the United States Department of Health and Human Services as a business consultant with Federal Occupational Health administration providing workplace health and wellness services for federal agencies.
Wanting independence and the opportunity for unlimited experiences, Mr. Allen created MAZCAN Enterprises, LLC, a training and consulting business that provided clinical, workplace, and organizational development services. Mr. Allen was been able to build a customer base of corporations, universities and human service organizations locally and nationally. He later established Therapeutic Connections in 2016 to provide behavioral health services for adults and children.
Mr. Allen is a University of Maryland School of Social Work alumni board member and has been the chairperson of the Student Engagement Committee since 2021.
Mr. Allen is also the author of The Strength from Within Windows to My Soul an inspirational non-fictional memoir and Windows to Your Soul an Interactive Workbook.
